Jerry joined P&O in the 1980’s to become the resident Choreographer, and later Choreographic Director, of the Stadium Theatre Company on board Canberra.

Jennifer Snookes (Rooke) – died 2 December 2015 aged 67

As Jenny Rooke, she was a Woman Assistant Purser with P&O in the late 1960’s/early 1970’s.

Commodore Michael Moulin – died 22 November 2015 aged 72

Mike joined P&O as a Cadet and spent his whole career with the Company, achieving command in 1981 and retiring as Commodore of Princess Cruises.

Commodore Engineer Officer Toni Mazonowicz MBE

Commodore Engineer Officer Toni Mazonowicz MBE died 31 Oct. 2015 aged 91.

Toni will be remembered as the Chief Engineer Officer (later Commodore Chief) of the first ORIANA. He joined the ship for the maiden voyage in December 1960 and remained with ORIANA until his retirement in 1984.

Anthony “Roger” Warren

Anthony “Roger” Warren died 16 August 2015 aged 83

Roger joined the Management Services Division of the P&O Group in the 1970’s. In the early 1980’s he became Fleet Operations Manager of P&O Ferries in London and then Fleet Manager of the Southampton/Le Havre route.

Maurice Onslow

Maurice Onslow died 3 August 2015 aged 79

Maurice joined the Orient Line in 1956 as an Assistant Purser and remained at sea until 1971 by which time he had become Purser. He then transferred ashore as an Assistant Superintendent Purser with P&O, later becoming the General Manager of Hotel Services until his retirement.

Reg was the Director of Corporate Communications for P&O Australia.

Gwyn Williams died in July 2015

Together with his wife, Stephanie, Gwyn was the organiser of the ‘Music at Sea Festivals’ held on board the P&O ships for many years.

Brenda Hyatt (Matthews)

As Brenda Matthews she worked in P&O Travel during the 1970’s and 1980’s. Initially as the secretary to the Managing Director, but later in various positions including one where she was responsible for the travel arrangements of all of the Directors and Senior Managers of the P&O Group.

As Christine Clarke, she was a Social Hostess/Entertainment Officer in the early 1970’s.

Roger Porter

Roger Porter died 24 May 2015 aged 82

Roger joined the Orient Line as a Purser Cadet in 1949 and became Purser in 1961. In the mid 1960’s he transferred ashore as an Assistant Superintendent Purser with P&O, later becoming Catering Manager before leaving in the 1970’s.

He held the rank of Captain in the Royal Naval Reserve, and was also an A.D.C to H.M. the Queen.

Brian Redman died 18 May 2015 aged 70/71

Brian joined P&O in the mid 1960’s and eventually became a Chef de Cuisine with P&O Cruises and with Princess Cruises. He left in 1986.

Russell Peters

Russell Peters

Russell joined P&O as a Deck Cadet in 1949 and remained at sea until the late 1950’s when he was seconded ashore as Cadet Training Officer. He then moved into Freight Marketing but left in the early 1970’s to join Fyffes where he was to become Chief Executive of their Shipping Division. Later, he became a Director of a P&I Club.

Peter joined the Orient Line in 1950 as a Purser’s Officer and rose to be Deputy Purser until the late 1960’s.

Danny was a Chief Baker with P&O from the 1950’s until the mid 1980’s.

Bob Gardener

Bob Gardener – died in Melbourne 25 February 2015

Bob worked for MacDonald Hamilton in Melbourne for many years, and, in 1963 he spent a period in the P&O Passenger Booking Office in Cockspur Street, London, as part of the Exchange Scheme.

Mike was a Deck Officer with BI and later with P&O Princess but was obliged to leave the sea as a result of ill health in the late 1970’s when he was Chief Officer.

David was a Deck Officer who began his seagoing career with P&O but left in the late 1960’s when he was either 3rd or 2nd Officer to join Cunard where he rose to Captain.
